This is a personal project that I created out of curiosity. How does climbing feel in VR? I have used the XR Toolkit by Unity as a interaction foundation. In VR rocks appear dynamically when you climb a wall. The rocks appear using a reversed dissolve shader effect.
I have developed a handy tool to easily adjust the spawn areas of the rocks, the amount, their distance from each other and so on. With that you can play with the difficulty of the climbing.
Besides this I added an environmental ambience, a sound effect for the appearing rocks and written and produced a musical piece for this experience. The music slowly fades in after a certain time.
