Spatial Audio Fields is an immersive VR project that showcases the incredible power of spatial audio. In this project, users can explore three distinct "audio fields," each indicated by unique ground textures. These fields offer intricate audio experiences in different themes, all made possible by spatialized audio sources using FMOD.
I have originally created this project as a way of proving my audio capabilities to work for PlaygroundVR, a startup that provided a fun & social VR experience for hospitalized children.
My point of this project was to have minimal visuals but still create an immersive experience just through the power of audio. Both looped audio but also randomized scatterer are used.
This project includes three audio areas with over 50 different sounds:
All audio sources have been carefully designed in FMOD and spatialized in Unity. One cool aspect is that the BPM of certain aspects such as the clock tower bell, hip hop beat and hang drum are BPM synced, even though they are in different areas. This creates a synchronized feel when going from one area to another.
When standing in the middle of each field, the audio is the most immersive, fully surrounding the user.
